Dress: H&M. Necklace: River Island. Bag: A gift. Boots: Dune.
A new blog, so why not a new dress to post on it? I bought this cream scalloped mini-dress from H&M a few weeks back in the sale, and have been waiting for a day grim enough to be able to wear it. I adore the sun, but I have to be honest, I miss my 120-denier black tights on hot days, when I haven’t a clue what to wear. This dress was a bargain at £10, and has filled a gaping hole in my wardrobe where I’ve been longing to hang a 60s-inspired white mini-shift. It’s love.
This week has been a busy one, to say the least. On Monday, I went out with my birthday money in hand, and bought the present my parents gave me the money to get, as they couldn’t really post it to me. It’s this beautiful blue polka-dot sewing machine! I’ve been longing for a sewing machine for a few months, but knew to sit it out until my birthday to make sure that I really wanted it, and it wasn’t just a fad. I absolutely love it, it’s so simple to use and I’ve already made a few cushion covers, and am preparing to sew some broderie anglaise trim on to the hem of a too-short dress over the weekend. I spent the rest of my birthday money on two dresses from Topshop and River Island, (which I will photograph soon), season one of New Girl, and a book on beginner’s dressmaking.
On Tuesday, I finally finished the research work I’ve been doing for the last two months. And then on Wednesday, I got a new job writing and editing for Nouvelle Daily, which of course you must know. And that’s what I’ve been doing since Wednesday – writing posts and planning features and contacting all kinds of people. It’s been super exciting so far and hopefully it will help with my seemingly never-ending job search.
