Coat: ASOS. Dress: Pop Boutique via ASOS. Bag: Primark. Boots: Dorothy Perkins.
Now this post has been a long time coming. This beautiful dress started doing the rounds last winter, and ended up in my ASOS basket a few nights before Christmas – and somehow it’s taken me almost a year to get around to posting it! Unsurprisingly, this dress is now sold out. What a shocker.
There’s something delightfully Wednesday Addams about this frock, but in the best possible way; I love the pretty pearly buttons, the delicate crocheted lace details and, of course, that collar. It’s the perfect dress to shimmy into on a cold winter day, when you’d much rather stay in pyjamas, and know that you’ll feel great. Paired with my new pointed Chelsea boots and old favourite leopard print coat, I really liked this look. The swing-cut skirt is flattering, and the mini length is just mini enough to stay modest. I’ve found it so easy to make this dress work-appropriate, with tamer shoes and a more reserved coat, but I think the retro styling comes to the fore when paired with my favourite sixties-inspired pieces.
Even on a bitterly cold day in east London, I felt great in this outfit, and can definitely see it being one of my favourites for the season to come! I even have a very similar version of this dress, but in velvet, winging its way to me currently, so we might even be seeing a very similar outfit post soon… whoops!
