If you’d have told me a couple of years ago that I should be slathering oil on my face before bedtime, I’d have been horrified. But, after I was given a couple of samples of Clarins’ infamous face oils, my outlook changed completely. I’d been using the Clarins oils on and off since then, perhaps once a week, using my beloved Body Shop Vitamin E night cream the rest of the time. But when the Clarins ran out, my bank account issued a firm ‘NO’ on buying a replacement, full-size bottle. I couldn’t find any more purse-friendly overnight oils that were garnering the kinds of reviews I was looking for.
Step forward, Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum In Oil.
Priced at an incredible £13, I could barely believe the rave reviews on the Body Shop site; surely something so budget couldn’t be so great? But I’m a Vitamin E devotee (currently in possession of day and night creams, an intense cream, a daily face wash and a cleansing bar) so I thought it was definitely worth a shot. I am so glad I did it!
Pitched as “beauty sleep for your skin”, the oil promises to nourish and replenish skin while you sleep, recharging its look and giving it an indulgent feel. It suspends nourishing serum in a super-smooth oil, combining the benefits of both for a truly innovative skincare experience. It’s packed full of wheatgerm, almond, jojoba and sunflower oils, and of course, Vitamin E.
From the first use, I loved it; it’s non-greasy and sinks in well, but feels super indulgent. It’s very gentle on the skin and feels like a really intense treatment.
It took me a couple of weeks to start seeing the full benefit of the oil, but now I’ve been using it for about three weeks solid, I can’t stop singing its praises! My skin feels soft, smooth and plump, and it’s looking the best it has done for a very long time! I apply it last thing at night, after cleansing; I massage in about five drops and make sure it’s all absorbed before I hit the pillow. In the morning, I’m waking up with soft and glowing skin – it’s unbeatable. It feels like a much more expensive treatment than it is, so you can look forward to feeling really indulgent, without breaking the bank. A definite must-have for me!
