I don’t know about you, but when it starts to feel remotely like Spring is on the way, I can’t help but long for pretty pastel outfits in cutesy candy shades. I’ve been dreaming of the day when I could wear this super-sweet outfit, and an afternoon tea for Mother’s Day felt like the perfect opportunity. I surprised my mum by taking her to one of her favourite places, Chiddingstone Castle, for a gorgeous afternoon tea, and decided to dress up for the occasion – although it appears I may have dressed up as one of the desserts, but never mind. I’ll be writing about our wonderful afternoon tea very soon too!
This peachy-pink Topshop coat is the perfect transitional coat for these weeks when we just don’t know how the day’s going to turn out. It’s woollen, so it’s warm, but it’s light and the bright colour makes it ideal for a springtime look. I couldn’t wait to pair it with this lilac lace dress, which I had been hunting down on eBay for months before I finally got my hands on it. It’s got the cutest dolly-like feel, with a pretty Peter Pan collar, and delicate lace with a scalloped hem. I wanted to wear my hair in plaits with this dress, but in fact I looked like an actual doll, so I went with a slightly more elegant updo. I decided to finish off the outfit with my new rose-gold glittery Topshop shoes and a sugar-pink handbag, which got its last outing back in Paris in the summer.
I love the mix-and-match of these pastel shades together; one of the things I love most about pretty pastels is that you can throw together different tones and shades and they all work together. So yes, my outfit might be mostly inspired by a Party Ring, but I love it. Do you?
