Jacket: French Connection. Blouse: H&M. Bag: Vintage. Jeans: Primark. Loafers: Zara.

Aside from Christmas, this time of year is my favourite; lighter evenings, sunny mornings, the promise of warmer weather and of course, an abundance of bank holidays to luxuriate in. There’s no better Monday than one where the alarm clock doesn’t go off, there’s no commute and there’s plentiful chocolate to be eaten! This Easter Monday embodied that exactly.

After a busy weekend celebrating a big family birthday, Monday seemed like the ideal day to enjoy some peace and some fresh air. We took a wander to Crystal Palace Park, which never disappoints. We usually end up by the bottom end of the park, beside the lake and those infamous dinosaurs, but my preference is the northern end of the park, where the actual Crystal Palace once stood. There’s just wide open space there now, but eerily, there’s grand stone staircases which would have led up to the palace, and plenty of decrepit statues and even a pair of sphinxes guard the vacant space. It’s faded grandeur at its best.

I wore a few new bits out for the walk, including this gorgeous leather jacket from French Connection. I’d been thinking about buying a new one for a couple of weeks, before I spotted this a few weekends ago, while I was supposed to be shopping for birthday presents. The style, the details and the fit were everything I was looking for and I didn’t think twice about snapping it up. Annoyingly though, it seems we’ve gone straight from winter-jacket-weather to no-jacket-weather, so I’m not sure when I’ll next wear this comfortably…

Also making its debut was this cherry-red lace blouse from H&M, which I bought last month and have been waiting to wear. In hindsight, it’s perhaps a bit bold for springtime but I don’t mind; if the flowers and the bakery displays are this comfortable, why can’t my clothes be?!
