Forever Repurchased Beauty Buys

When it comes to beauty and grooming, I’m a bit of a creature of habit. Most of the time I won’t venture outside of my ‘safe zone’ to try something new, unless it comes equipped with a plethora of glowing reviews. So I think it’s fair to say that when I find something I love, I stay very loyal indeed. I thought I’d compile a list of my favourite buys that always make their way back onto my dressing table and into my beauty regime…

I was never that enthralled by the idea of facial setting sprays (what if it removed half of my carefully-applied makeup?) and I went through a few less-than-effective ones before I found the Body Shop’s Vitamin E Face Mist. This vitamin-packed spritz almost feels like it moisturises the skin as you spray it, meaning makeup feels super comfortable all day long. I haven’t looked back since trying this spray and for me, it’s a must-have product – it makes makeup stay all day and look dewy and fresh, and the rosewater scent smells delicious. Priced at just £8.50, it’s purse-friendly too!

Winged eyeliner is my go-to everyday look, and I’ve tried dozens of brands over the ten years (oh Christ) that I’ve been wearing it. But one of my recent finds has definitely made it to holy grail status – the Soap & Glory Supercat Fat Jumbo eyeliner pen. It’s a rich, true black – the blackest black eyeliner ever! – and the angled nib makes applying it so easy to do. One pen lasted me six months so it’s £7 very well spent!

Alongside eyeliner goes brows, and my favourite brow product is another more recent find. Maybelline’s Brow Satin pencil has made finishing my brows easier and quicker than anything else. One end is a light, creamy pencil for outlining and structuring the brow shape, while the other end is a sponge tip filled with powder, for filling in the gaps or sparseness in brows. I fill them and give them a quick brush through with a spoolie et voila – full, thick but natural-looking brows in seconds.

Everyone loves dewy, glowy skin, right? I can’t go a day without adding in extra glow, I feel like my face looks flat and dull without it. So my favourite killer combo for glowy skin is one that has been by my side for over a year now, and a duo that I’ll be sticking with for the foreseeable future. I fell in love with L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique primer last year and it’s my go-to for healthy, luminous skin. Just one pump of this pearlescent primer provides a perfect base for foundation, and ensures my base looks flawless and glowing. To amp up the glow, I’ve not found better than No7’s Instant Radiance highlighter; this little crayon of champagne-coloured highlighter is just heaven. A few swipes of this and I have a subtly sculpted face and warm, luminescent skin. Perfection!

An oldie but a goodie – Bourjois’ Healthy Mix foundation has been my go-to for several years now. Nothing else has worked for me (and my budget) quite like it! One pump gives me a soft, natural-looking base that covers up imperfections whilst still letting the skin show through. This must be my eighth bottle of this stuff (at least!) and I find it to be a no-fuss product that never lets me down.

I said I was loyal to products when I liked them, and I wasn’t kidding – I’ve been using the Body Shop’s Vitamin E moisturiser since I was twelve! I’ve tried a few others in my time but nothing works for me quite like it – Simple wasn’t effective enough, L’Oreal ones are too thick, and I recently had a disastrous dalliance with a Clinique moisturiser that made me run back to my old faithful Body Shop. This moisturiser is one to suit all skin types, and instantly softens and soothes the skin, creating the perfect base for makeup. It sinks in quickly and never lets me down – I can’t see me buying any other face cream than this!

To finish off, a haircare favourite than I couldn’t be without. The Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-In Conditioner Spray is a must-have for me and my thick, unruly hair! I use this spray before blow-drying my hair and in-between washes too, for smooth, soft and manageable hair, with the most delicious fragrance. I can’t get enough of this stuff – it’s often quite hard to track down but it’s so, so worth it!

So there’s my favourite beauty buys that I repurchase again and again – what are yours?
