Yep, you’ve guessed it – my bank account didn’t take a bashing just to fill my wardrobe, oh no. I’ve also been a bit busy (and a bit reckless) buying some new bits for the house too. What can I say, interior accessorising is my new bag (literally…)
If you read my last post, you’ll have noticed that I got a bit H&M-happy, with no less than three separate sprees there in the course of a week. Well, there’ll be no surprises when I tell you that I headed there for some new home accessories too. Whoops. H&M is my new favourite home store; the designs and the colours fit exactly with what I’m planning for various rooms in the flat and the prices are amazing. There’s not many H&M Home stores about but I have three relatively nearby – and yet I choose to shop online. Go figure.
I picked a few practical bits and then a few not-so-practical, but that’s ok – a home is there to have fun with! I‘ve already spoken about how I plan to decorate our bedroom, with splashes of pink and copper amongst the grey, and I found a couple of perfect little bits for this.
This copper basket matches our new lighting fixture (more on that later) and will be the perfect way to neatly store makeup beside my dressing table. All my everyday bits are getting moved to a makeup bag, so this will store less-used, larger items, but it will look so pretty atop my new storage drawers.
I also picked up a pink pillar candle to sit in the fireplace – there’s already a white one, and I’m just waiting on copper ones to come back into stock before I have three pretty colours livening up the hearth.
Alongside these, I couldn’t resist this cute little cushion in the sale – a saying that always helps to calm me down a bit. Plus, it’s so pretty!
The final thing I bought from H&M is something that I just know Lewis is going to hate. It’s a gold pineapple candle. YES. I’d been lusting after the infamous M&S one for months but £19 on a candle is a bit much for me. H&M’s version is a much more purse-friendly £4.99, and this is going to look fun on the living room bookshelves.
I’ve spoken a little bit about this here already, and you’ll have already seen it if you follow me on Instagram, but I finally got a dressing table! I’ve been lost since I had to sell my old one last year to move to London, and last week the dressing table of dreams finally arrived. You’ve probably seen this Dunelm one doing the rounds, but I can totally see why it’s so popular; it’s heavy and solid, but oh so pretty. I picked it up in the sale, but it’s back to full price now. It doesn’t have much storage, true, which is why I’ve been shopping around for alternatives. It might not be the most practical, but it’s just so beautiful!
One of those alternative storage buys is this wicker storage tower, from Asda. It’s super slim and perfect for packing away all of my excess bits and pieces. It’s deceptively roomy, and whatever doesn’t fit in here either sits pretty on the dressing table or gets packed away in the bathroom. I’m also thinking about picking up this wicker hamper, to store my hairdryer and straighteners in. I ordered an acrylic lipstick holder too, which will be a godsend (when it actually arrives!).
Asda is actually better for homewares than I first thought; we also picked up this beautiful copper light fixture, which is a ringer for one on Made.com but £50 cheaper! It’s going to add so much warmth to our bedroom without being too feminine, and will be a wonderful replacement for those awful black acrylic chandeliers currently fixed there. Now just to put it up!
So that’s my homeware haul this week, and I’m almost certain there will be plenty more to come…
