So I’ve said approximately thirty times so far this month that I love September and the start of Autumn – but once more can’t hurt, right? Last weekend saw me totally indulging in it being a chilly, grey day; think pyjamas, bed socks, blankets, a takeaway and Strictly Come Dancing. The start of a four-month long Saturday night routine!
But Sunday saw a bit of a new dawn, and a return to our old friend, Summer. I’d planned a lazy stroll around our nearby park, and had a suitably autumnal outfit all picked out, but the weather had other ideas. Cue blazing sunshine! Having mentally packed away all of my summery clothes last week, I did a bit of digging before settling on a dress that I think works all year long. Although, in hindsight, it may work better with a cami underneath it to preserve some modesty…
In spite of its super-plunging neckline, I really love this pretty little tea dress (so much so that I bought it in mustard too, although I’m not sure how it will work with my new hair colour! Maybe time to buy it in pink too?) and I think it works for every season. For today’s sudden mini-heatwave, I wore it with some seriously comfortable leather sandals and a much-too-big handbag; once the weather cools down a bit, I know this will look lovely with tights, ankle boots and a big furry shrug or my leather jacket.
We took a walk around the park, soaking up the last of the sun before Autumn unpacks its bags and settles in, making the most of the beautiful flowers around us. It’s so easy to forget we’re just 25 minutes from central London here, as it sometimes feels like the middle of the countryside. A sunny Sunday stroll – the perfect way to see off a summer in style! Now, where are my tights and cardigans?
