It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me! Lewis and I have made a bit of a conscious effort to be doing more with our time before the days get much colder and the nights get much darker (and then we have no excuse whatsoever to not be decorating the flat!), so we’ve had a couple of trips around London to make sure we’re seeing more of the city life.
We took ourselves off to Oxford Street on a whim after work last week; despite it being one of my least favourite areas of London to shop in, sometimes you just have to suck it up, barge through the crowds and enjoy (if you can) the madness. It was a pretty successful shopping trip actually; I went all urban sports and bought a sweatshirt and some trainers (who am I?) and fell utterly in love with a white faux-fur coat that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since. It may even be worth dipping into my savings for…
Of course, you might have seen that we spent the day in Soho a few weeks back for London Fashion Week. Our crazy day wandering the streets has really given me the taste to spend more time uptown, instead of spending weekends crashing in front of Now TV, bingeing on old episodes of The Vicar of Dibley. We might not be in London forever so I want to make the most of being home and seeing the sights!
Along the same vein, I ventured uptown today for my first blogging event; the #HillarysCrafternoon with Hillary’s Blinds and a fabulous group of bloggers. I’ll be sharing more about that later this week, but I had a great time, and it was worth leaving my weekend retreat to go to.
Speaking of weekend retreats, on Friday night after work, I hopped on the train and headed out to the countryside, to spend some time with my parents. Lewis is in Madrid this weekend, enjoying some time with his brother and friends, and rather than sit in the flat on my own until Tuesday, I decided to make some plans and spend the weekend with my mum and dad in their cosy country cottage. I had a gorgeous time with them and my beautiful dog Tilly; cooking a delicious lunch, having my grandparents round, enjoying long walks in the sunshine and just having a super-relaxed, super-fun time. My parents are seriously my best friends. I was actually intending to stay there until later this evening, but the blogging event cropped up and I couldn’t say no, so I sadly said my goodbyes this morning instead. It’s fine though; I’m fully intending on popping out again tomorrow afternoon to perk up my mum’s Monday! It’s only October but I’m already making resolutions – to spend more time with my favourite people.
