I’m lucky enough that I get to travel quite a lot around the UK, and that we have family in different cities, so there’s always an excuse to pack a bag and catch a flight somewhere! And after several years of flitting across the country, I like to think I’ve got my travelling routine down to a tee.
Packing my makeup and cosmetics is always a tricky thing when you only have hand luggage; those pesky liquid allowances mean that there’s space only for the best of the best in my routine. But I’ve managed to whittle down my favourites that always make the cut and promise a fuss-free and functional grooming routine. First up – my skincare and general grooming!
First things first, the wipes. I remove the bulk of my makeup with a wipe, usually the Simple travel pack for ease. Then on to the good stuff! This set of ESPA miniatures is fantastic for maintaining a quality skincare routine whilst away. I use the Optimal Pro Skin Cleanser to double cleanse after wiping away most of my makeup; it’s a gently exfoliating gel cleanser that gets rid of all of the grime and leaves me with a perky, smooth complexion. Post-cleanse, I sweep a cotton pad soaked with the Hydrating Floral SpaFresh Toner over my face to refresh the skin and remove any residue from cleansing.
When I’m away, I can’t take my beloved Body Shop face oil as it takes up too much space, but I’ve found a great compromise; ESPA’s Skin Radiance Intensive Serum is a powerhouse of hydration that easily takes the place of my night creams and doesn’t leave my skin feeling like it’s missing something. A small blob of this quenches thirsty skin and leaves it glowing for the morning! And in the morning, the Skin Radiance Moisturiser provides the perfect base for makeup.
Alongside the ESPA set, I also love these miniatures from Malin & Goetz; the cleanser leaves my skin feeling incredibly clean, and the moisturiser is super light and easily absorbed, perfect if I’m in a rush.
The body lotions that come in perfume gift sets are the perfect size for travelling, and mean that you don’t have to take lots of body sprays or fragrances too. The BOSS Orange lotion is the perfect day scent, light and feminine, and the velvety lotion feels indulgent to use.
In terms of haircare, I don’t change my routine at all. I take miniature versions of my trust Batiste Blush dry shampoo, and bottles of the super-hydrating Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner. My Mythic Oil is too large to take, but this tester-size bottle of Percy & Reed No-Oil Oil is the ideal grooming product; I use it on wet hair to help smooth and protect, and post-drying to add shine.
So that’s my travel edit of skincare and grooming products – keep an eye out for a post on my travel makeup bag!
