A Wardrobe Refresh
I’m a sucker for sale season, I won’t lie to you. There’s no thrill like finding something you’ve been lusting after for months, half price and calling out to you. And the Boxing Day/New Year sales are my very favourites of all. I thought I’d give you a quick run through of the bits and pieces I picked up in this year’s sales…
The ASOS sale, as we all know, is the best place to head once the discount season starts, and it’s been my favourite destination this time around. I only picked up three things but I love them all and I can’t wait to wear them. Using the money my nan gave me for Christmas, I finally treated myself to the Dahlia Victoriana dress I’ve been dreaming of since the summer, just £20 down from £68. My best bargain yet!
I also picked up this ribbed jersey shift dress in a pretty shade of lilac; I thought it would be ideal for work and lazy days alike. I can wear it for the rest of the winter with tights and boots, and pair it with pastel ballet flats for springtime days.
My final buy from ASOS was this lovely pink floral skater dress, which I loved on sight. The shade and the pattern are gloriously feminine and so pretty, and it’s such a flattering fit – plus, I love the bell sleeves. Again, I’ll wear this for work but I think it would also make a perfect outfit for a summer garden party or a lunch date once the weather gets a bit warmer.
I’ve been lusting after *that* spotted, bell-sleeve Urban Outfitters blouse for months now – probably since about September time. Me being me, I thought £40 for one top was pretty steep, so I swerved it, even though I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I’d given up all hope after seeing it in the sale online, only available in XXS, and tried dismally to forget about it and find an alternative. Until I walked into Urban Outfitters in Bluewater last weekend, looking for birthday gifts, and saw a solo spotty blouse peeping out at me from the overstuffed racks. In my size, in the sale. MINE.*
For months now, I’ve been in desperate need of new Chelsea boots, as my pair from last year are worn out, and, thanks to my weird walking habits, totally worn down on either side of the heels. Down to the wood. As it’s January and Spring is in sight (delusional? Me?) I didn’t want to spend too much on boots I’m only going to get a few months’ wear out of, so I headed to Dorothy Perkins and picked up a pair of pointed-toe, zip-up black ankle boots for £10. They’re not on the website but there were so many in store!
I also picked up this pair of classic tasselled loafers for slightly warmer times, and they were 30% off on the day so they were only about £16. I’ve wanted some comfortable loafers for so long and have just never committed; I think these will be great for work and the weekends, and will look perfect with outfits like the Urban Outfitters blouse and black jeans. Easy.
What did you pick up in the sales?
*This now appears to be back in stock in most sizes on the website. Still, it was an achievement at the time.
