My 2016 Wardrobe Wishlist

New Year, New You

It might be midway through January now, but I’m still most definitely in that shiny, optimistic mood that only a fresh new year can bring. It’s this time of year where I spend a hefty chunk of my time thinking about what I’m doing and where I’m going, and what I want to be doing in the near future.

My wardrobe and personal style falls under this bracket too; I can’t resist a serious closet clearout come January, and as a result, the rails are looking pretty bare. It gives me the perfect excuse to scrapbook what kind of style I’m falling for this season and how I want my look to evolve over the coming months. Hence – my wardrobe wishlist for 2016!

I’m still massively favouring a vintage style, with pretty, high-necked dresses in soft candy shades sending my heart aflutter – but I’m feeling a change in the winds with these styles by wanting to mix them with metallics and contrasting textures. I’ve also found myself falling for some more relaxed shapes and styles; sweaters with skinny jeans and sleek trainers (and a glamorous bag!) feels like perfect Sunday style to me, finished off with a cosy coat in a pop of colour.

Overall, the vibe I’m feeling for 2016 is an evolved, grown-up version of the kinds of things I’ve always loved, but maybe haven’t been brave enough to try. It’s also more expensive-looking, with some additions from stores I previously wouldn’t have been able to shop in, such as Whistles, Reiss and Ted Baker. The overall result is pretty, elegant and feminine, but with a healthy dose of comfort and practicality too!

What’s on your wardrobe wishlist for 2016?

My “adulting” clothing wishlist consists of just one item: a Ted Baker skirt. I absolutely love the prints and the shapes are so flattering.

I am also in mad love with those gold Topshop shoes, and will be bookmarking them for future reference!
