Four to Try: My Favourite Face Masks

SMOOTH IT OUT

Once a week I really love to take a couple of hours to indulge in a luxurious skincare routine, and a crucial part of that for me is a great face mask. There’s nothing like the excuse of taking ten minutes to do absolutely nothing but relax, and wind up with fresh-looking skin afterwards. Depending on my main concern that week, I mix up my face masks to treat any problems or correct any issues, and I thought I’d talk you through my favourite four treatments.

For weeks when my skin feels hormonal and congested, there’s nothing like the Una Brennan Superfacialist Anti Blemish Pore Purifying Clay Mask (phew!). This is a thick clay formula, packed with salicylic acid, that works to draw out any impurities in the skin and drag it all up to the surface, leaving calmer, clearer skin behind. It’s one of those masks that you can really feel working; it’s cool to the touch to apply and sets gradually to a real solid finish, so removing it feels extra satisfying! I absolutely love using this when I’ve had a bad skin week and I love the look that it leaves me with.

When I feel like my skin is dehydrated and dull, the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Antioxidant Gel Mask is the ideal option. This is a thick jelly mask with exfoliating beads suspended inside, and works to refresh, resurface and rehydrate the skin for a bright and clear complexion. It’s gentle to use so is perfect for when skin feels tight and sensitive too.

If I feel that my face is looking dull and lacking that healthy glow we all love, I go back to an old favourite. The Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is usually one of my primers of choice, but it can also be used as a quick face mask to inject skin with a dose of real radiance. If you’ve never used Flash Balm before, it’s a really thick, slightly tacky formula that feels like it really sinks into your skin, and quickly leaves skin looking much brighter and healthier. It’s a great choice for a fast transformation!

Finally, for the rare occasions when my skin feels red, raw and angry, there’s only one mask for the job. The Origins Dr Andrew Weil Mega Mushroom Skin Relief mask is incredible at soothing the angriest of complexions and calming down the most painful of blemishes. The thick, cool, clay-like formula is easy to spread on thickly and feels so refreshing and gentle on the skin. Ten minutes of this and not only has redness dramatically reduced, but blemishes often feel much smaller and calmer too. A miracle worker when nothing else will do!

Do you use any of these masks?
