Monthly Favourites: June

This month I got my hands on some very exciting new skincare that I’ve been absolutely loving. I’ve been trialling some new releases from The Hero Project and in particular, I’ve fallen in love with the Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost. It’s a hydrating gel to be used under moisturiser, day or night, to really boost the effectiveness of your face cream and amp up the moisture and I’ve really been seeing the benefits. Expect a glowing review very soon!

I’ve been loving my new collection of Sleek Lip VIP Lipsticks*, which I have a full review coming on soon. I was lucky enough to get all six shades and I’ve been having so much fun experimenting with new colours that I might not have necessarily chosen for myself instore. They’re velvety smooth with a beautiful semi-matte finish, the perfect everyday (and every night!) lipstick.

My favourite new purchase has to go to this beautiful Grecian-inspired gold leaf crown I picked up at New Look last week. I bought it to wear to a wedding and I absolutely love it; it’s pretty and glamorous but also not too over-the-top. I wore it amongst a few wild waves in my hair but I can imagine it looking glorious in a halo braid too. All this for only £4.99!!

This month I’ve been dipping in and out of the sales with varied success. I did, however, scoop the sales jackpot with a beautiful blue lace dress from Zara. I can’t find it online so I will have to share an outfit post to show you – but it is just so pretty. I wore it at the weekend and felt like I wanted to twirl all day long; surely the hallmark of the perfect dress.

Second place goes to this amazing gold glitter-spotted Breton top from Boden. Glitter and spots and stripes? I’m sold.

There’s not been much variation in the way of accessories this month – my most-used has definitely been my umbrella!! I did, however, pick up some very cute tasselled jewellery at H&M this month and realised all over again how easy it is to use jewellery to freshen up an outfit.

The sales this month have been very exciting for me, not so much for my bank account. I got a bit silly in the Topshop sale and thankfully I had to return most of it, but the Zara and Mango sales have been something else. And the Boden sale. ALL the sales.

I can’t lie, I’m still so in love with the Great British Sewing Bee. Every year I just fall for the gentle tweeness of it, and it always makes me want to get back into dressmaking so badly. The series ends next week and I’m already itching to dig my sewing machine out and get creative!

I’ve been experimenting a bit more in the kitchen of late, trying out some new recipes for Italian food and being really pleased (probably too pleased) with the results. My current favourite is a really light and fresh prawn and pancetta linguine, made with a barely-there tomato sauce and fistfuls of basil. So delicious!!

Plus, a trip to Hawker House (the South London version of Dinerama) gave me one of the best meals I’ve ever had; beautifully rare beef with chimichurri, chips, mustard and gravy. Heavenly!!

It’s hard to say what my biggest treat was this month in terms of purchasing, as I’ve treated myself a fair bit. But the biggest treat of all was our trip to Edinburgh last weekend; every second was a little gift. We attended a family wedding and spent the rest of the weekend exploring the city and spending time with our loved ones, and it really was one of my favourite times of this year so far. A real treat!!
