Sleek Lip VIP Collection*

Lipstick is truly one of my favourite cosmetics. One quick swipe and your face can be transformed; it can finish off a look or it can create one in an instant. I’m building quite the collection but such is my love, I can always find room for a few more. So image my delight on being presented with the full Lip VIP lipstick collection by Sleek Makeup – six semi-matte sticks in a range of must-have shades.

The Lip VIP collection has six shades in total, all in a seriously creamy semi-matte formula that’s really comfortable to wear – there’s no drying or flaking away here! The formula contains Vitamin E, shea butter and coconut oil to hydrate, basically all the good stuff – they smell good too, creamy and coconutty. I was actually really impressed with the staying power; I wore one to a street feast festival a few weekends back and it still showed an impressive colour after hours of eating, drinking and talking, with no smudging.

The colour payoff is really impressive too; it takes an extra swipe or too initially but you’re left with an intense, velvety colour that sets to a matte without being too dry or flat. My go-to shades are always a soft nude lip and a blazing scarlet; this collection offers both of those shades and some inbetween that I might not have picked up instore, but actually I really like them now I’ve tried them out for myself.

Let’s talk through the shades. Private Booth was an instant favourite, a soft creamy nude that’s similar to my all-time favourite nude lipstick, with a slight tawny brown undertone. Perfect for pairing with a dark and dramatic eye for a retro look, or pared-back makeup for a daytime feel. Reserved is a shade I love but wouldn’t usually pick; a bright candy pink that really stands out. I still feel a bit shy wearing shades like this but I can’t deny I love the super-glam Barbie-esque feel of it!

Backstage was a surprise favourite, and the one I wore to the street feast festival. It’s a dark coral pink with a reddish-brown undertone, something I’d probably dismiss ordinarily but it was super flattering to wear and I really loved the look. Guest List is your classic summer coral, perfect for pairing with a tan for the warmer weather! It’s perky and bright, very summery and really pretty, I’m sure I’ll get lots of wear out of it over the summer months.

Flaunt It is definitely a shade I’d never be bold enough to buy. It’s a ferocious red-orange, really bright but achingly cool. It looks very similar to Mac’s Morange, those punchy kind of tones. Once I tried this out, I realised it was much more wearable than I’d imagined – I can totally see this working with pared-back makeup for a true statement lip, or it looking really glamorous with a full face for a big night out. It will still take some guts to wear it but I was very pleasantly surprised!

Finally Night Spot is the classic traffic-light red, a blazing true scarlet colour with blueish undertones for bright white teeth. It seems glossier than the other shades and feels a tad more slippery on the lips, but what a gorgeous colour! I can’t resist a classic red lip day or night and I can see this one becoming a bit of a staple.

Overall I’m really impressed with the collection, it’s opened my eyes to shades I wouldn’t have tried before and, with these being the first Sleek lipsticks I’ve tried, I’m really impressed with the colour and the quality. You can buy them here for £5.49 each.
